Why Prague Attracts International Professionals

Prague has several characteristics that make it relevant to internationally minded professionals: a central European location, strong public transport, an international business environment and access to the wider EU market.

But “international city” does not mean “no paperwork”.

The professional environment

Prague has established sectors in technology, consulting, shared services, finance, engineering, tourism and other internationally connected industries.

English is common in international workplaces.

Czech remains important in many local-facing professions.

The cost question

Housing and office costs can differ significantly from major Western European cities and Tel Aviv.

But professionals should compare the complete cost of living, including:

  • rent;

  • taxes;

  • insurance;

  • travel;

  • education;

  • and local services.

The legal framework

An international professional may be:

  • employed by a Czech company;

  • employed by a foreign company;

  • self-employed;

  • running a Czech company;

  • or moving as a family member.

Each situation can lead to different immigration, tax and insurance consequences.

Remote work requires planning

Working from a laptop in Prague does not automatically determine your legal or tax position.

If you are physically living in Czechia while working for a foreign company, check both the immigration and tax sides of the arrangement.

A European base is not automatically a business

A Czech address and a laptop do not create a customer base.

Professionals moving for business should identify:

  • who the customers are;

  • where contracts are signed;

  • where income is generated;

  • how invoices are issued;

  • and which legal structure is appropriate.

A-Z GRP

A-Z GRP helps Israeli professionals and families coordinate the practical side of establishing life in Czechia and connect with local specialists where legal, tax or accounting advice is required.

Prague can be a professional base. The business plan still has to work on its own.
